  1. I am so glad to have discovered you (on Qora) because I am from Canada and go to China as often as I can as a guest artist. I took a few lessons in Mandarin and admit the sounds are difficult to hear and repeat but I have no exposure to writing and want to.

I will start with your puzzle books. Is the idea to do all the 25 puzzle books BEFORE the Calligraphy books?

    1. Thanks, glad to know your interest in Mandarin Chinese.

Learning to read and write Chinese characters is mutually interlinked.

Since many Chinese characters look similar, writing character is an interesting way to remember character for a long term. That said, calligraphy is recommended for learning Chinese in a fun and relaxed way. All we need is to draw the characters.

Solving puzzles requires looking at the characters very carefully to find the exact matches.

When we learn reading and writing simultaneously, the learning effects would be long-lasting.

Further, it’s not mandatory to do all 25 books before starting calligraphy as reading and writing should be done together.
